Mrs. Hawthorne brings over 20 years of experience in education to her current role, where she oversees the Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) program at our middle schools. She works closely with ELA and math teachers in the advanced classes to identify, monitor, and support AIG students.
She also serves as the district’s K–12 Social Studies Lead, supporting teachers as they implement the NC inquiry-based standards. Our department's goal is to empower students to think critically, engage thoughtfully with diverse perspectives, and grow as informed citizens.
