Ms. Hatten is a 20 year veteran of Franklin County Schools. She is Franklinton Middle School's Teacher of the Year, and is excited to continue teaching Drama. Her passions are reading, anything theatre related, spending time with friends and family, and pursuing her own higher education. Look out world! In May, Ms. Hatten becomes Dr. Hatten!

Coach Hartsfield has been privileged to teaching Health and PE over 10 years at FMS. Coach enjoys building relationships with his student and community. Coach is also the Athletic Director at FMS and Head JV basketball coach at Franklinton HS. Married with 3 children.

Ms. Johnson is a product of Franklin County Schools and is excited to be back as a teacher! While she enjoys all art, she gravitates more toward drawing and ceramics. Even though she has her own interests, she knows that everyone is different. She plans to introduce students to various types of art mediums and techniques.

Originally from New Jersey where Mrs. Rippe graduated from William Paterson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Classical Performance, with instrumental concentration on the flute, trombone, and the euphonium. After graduation she taught band in public schools in NJ for six years. Mrs. Rippe then relocated to NC where she continued to work in education, teaching band for another five years in Vance and Wake County respectively. After which she pivoted her career to work with a local music company Music & Arts as their Educational Sales Representative for the next 8 years. During this time she also taught an after school band program with a 501c3 organization called Kidznotes and has continued to serve the community as their band director to present time. Three years ago, Mrs. Rippe stepped back into the classroom serving a charter school in Granville county teaching guitar, history of rock & rock and modern rock band. This is her 2nd year serving Franklinton Middle School as the middle school band director. In her free time she loves going to the beach with her husband and 2 sons, sewing costumes and crafting, and being surrounded by her family and friends.
Bringing her love of music and the love of playing the instruments to the students at Franklinton Middle School is an inspiring adventure for the present and the future.

A dedicated Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher, this educator brings a unique blend of real-world business experience, global perspective, and creative passion to the classroom. With an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, they are committed to preparing students for future success by blending academics with practical, hands-on learning.
Before beginning a career in education, they spent 12 years in the airline industry as a trained pilot. That experience fostered not only technical expertise but also leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Traveling to cities around the world gave them a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and the many opportunities available to those willing to dream big and work hard. This love of travel continues to shape their teaching philosophy, encouraging students to explore beyond their comfort zones, remain curious, and see learning as a journey with endless destinations.
Currently teaching Computer Science Discoveries, Career Exploration, and Keyboarding, they integrate innovative tools such as Xello to help students explore career pathways, discover personal strengths, and develop essential technical skills. Known for a learning-focused and student-centered approach, lessons are designed to spark curiosity, foster creativity, and build critical thinking skills. From guiding students through developing business plans to creating apps and presenting their ideas, the classroom experience is designed to mirror the real-world challenges and opportunities that students will encounter in the future.
Beyond academics, this educator enjoys creating vibrant artwork through spray paint and acrylics, an outlet that mirrors the creativity they encourage in their students. Originally from Long Island, NY, and now living in North Carolina with a spouse and two children, they continue to embrace a love of travel, adventure, and lifelong learning. They are passionate about cultivating a classroom environment where students feel valued, inspired, and motivated to reach their full potential.
