Ms. Jelena Tjulkina is a 6th-grade science teacher who is passionate about exploring the human body and the environment . She earned her degree in Biomedical Science, where she studied both the human body and environmental sciences. Her graduate research focused on pollution in the Indian River Lagoon which in located in Florida, reflecting her deep interest in the connection between people and the environment.

She enjoys sharing her love of science with students by encouraging curiosity, exploration, and critical thinking. Ms. Tjulkina strives to create a classroom where students feel excited to learn, supported in their growth, and empowered to see themselves as future scientists and problem-solvers.

Outside of teaching, she enjoys spending time outdoors, doing yoga, running, exploring nature, and continuing to learn about environmental and health issues.

Mr. Mitchell is Franklinton Middle's 6th-grade math teacher. Holding a Bachelor's of Science in Economics from Fort Hays State University, his journey has been a blend of academia, sports, and finance. Throughout college, he had the privilege of playing soccer, an experience that instilled in him discipline, teamwork, and a passion for the athletics. Subsequently, he took on the role of a soccer coach for NBT, where he further honed his skills in leadership and mentorship. Prior to embarking on his teaching career, he worked as a financial analyst, sharpening his analytical and problem-solving abilities—skills he is eager to impart to the students of Franklin County.

Outside the classroom, he is an enthusiast of the outdoors and adventure. From surfing to snowboarding, biking to paddle boarding, he believes in the power of active learning and engaging with the world around us. It's his hope that by bringing a wealth of diverse experiences into math lessons, he can make the subject more relatable and engaging for everyone.

He is looking forward to the opportunity to make a positive impact on our next generation of thinkers!

Sharonda Crudup is a Second year ELA teacher but no stranger to the classroom. She has served in education for over 14 years. 1 year of that being with Juvenile Justice. Ms. Crudup has a B.S. Criminal Justice, also Certified to teach Early Childhood Education. A product of Franklin County Schools education makes it even more exciting to be here teaching. Ms.Crudup has a strong passion for working with adolescents. Possessing the same desire to teach each student no matter their past experiences. Ms.Crudup is a mother to 4 active children in school, but she still makes time to support her students in and out of the classroom!

Mr. Calderon, is a third-year Social Studies teacher at Franklinton Middle School. A native of Caguas, Puerto Rico, Mr. Calderon served in the US Army for 21 years in various roles, including instructor, operations and logistics. He also served in support for Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. After retirement, he moved to Franklinton, North Carolina, and worked at the Butner Federal Medical Center. However, after a short time, he decided to pursue his passion for teaching history. In his free time, Mr. Calderon enjoys swimming at the pool, visiting the beach, camping, traveling, and off-roading with his wife.

Mr. Calderon is married to Mrs. Jean Bruno, a BSN, RN, and has four adult children.

Mr. Calderon’s vision for the classroom is to educate the next generation of students about the fundamental principles of humanity and how its past development has shaped the current civilization. He aims to demonstrate how inventions and ideas from the past compare to the challenges of today.
